Nogoma (English spelling) Siberian ruby-throat

Japanese: ノゴマ(野駒) - ノゴマ(英語表記)Siberian ruby‐throat
Nogoma (English spelling) Siberian ruby-throat
A passerine bird of the family Flycatcher. Total length about 16cm. Olive brown above, lighter below. Males have a prominent bright red marking on their throats, but females do not. The eyebrows and jaw line are white. They breed in the Himalayas from central Siberia to Primorsky Krai and Kamchatka, and those from the north migrate to South Asia in winter. They arrive in Japan as summer birds in April and May, and breed in Hokkaido. In Honshu and south, they only pass through in spring and autumn as migrants, but they have been confirmed to live on Mt. Hayachine in Iwate Prefecture in summer, so they may breed there.
