Ah Hei

…Western music education was being carried out in big cities, and at the same time, popular music and jazz were being introduced from the West, and Chinese-made Western songs and songs became popular, overwhelming traditional music. During this period, the blind musician Hua Yanjun (1893-1950), known as Ah Bing, left behind masterpieces such as the Chinese lute piece Erquan Yingyue and the pipa piece Da Lang Taosha, while Liu Tianhua (1895-1932) adopted Western music techniques and demonstrated new techniques in the Chinese lute pieces Sky Mountain Bird Language, Sickness Recitation, and the pipa piece Song Hua Yin. He also founded the National Music Improvement Society to instruct the next generation, and published the Music Magazine in an effort to raise awareness. In contrast, Western composers such as Xian Xinghai and Nie Er expressed the energy of the people during the Anti-Japanese War and the revolution in works such as "The Yellow River" and "Song of Advancement."
