Founded in the late Edo period by the first Inoue Yachiyo. Both the second and third generations were influenced by Noh and Bunraku, and the third generation began Miyako Odori (Miyako dance). A dance for women only. It had influence in Gion, Kyoto. Zashikimai (Japanese-style room dance). Elegant dance. 〘名〙① 古砲術の一流派。慶長・元和(一五九六‐一六二四)の頃、播磨国の人、井上外記正継が始めたもの。外記流(げきりゅう)。※国朝砲熕権輿録(1855)「古今火術の諸流〈略〉井上外記正継より出し流派は、井上流と称し」② 日本舞踊の京舞の一流派。江戸末期、初世井上八千代が創始。二世・三世ともに能楽・文楽の影響をうけ、三世は都踊りをはじめた。女性だけの舞。京都祇園に勢力を持つ。座敷舞。風流舞。
