Novum organum

Japanese: ノウム・オルガヌム(英語表記)Novum organum
Novum organum
A work by F. Bacon. It was first published in 1620 as the second part of "Great Innovations", and was given this name when it was republished in the Netherlands in 1645 after the author's death. "Noum" is Latin for "new", and "organum" means "logic", "tool", or "method", so it would be more appropriate to translate it as "New Logic" or "New Method", but in Japan it has been mistakenly translated as "New Organ" since the Meiji period. The original text is in Latin, and describes in the form of an aphorism "the very technique of elucidating nature and making the intellect work more certainly".
