…There are records that something similar was done in Shirakawa, Hida (Gifu Prefecture) until the beginning of the Showa period. Also, in the inner part of Kumamoto Prefecture's Kuma District and Iki Island, Nagasaki Prefecture, they were called "ukekaji" and villages without blacksmiths called them by their names, and even prepared huts, charcoal, and food. And in Iki Island, it is said that farmers also hammered the hammers themselves. …
