Keijun Miyabe

Year of birth: Unknown. A military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Zenshobo, Nakatsukashokyo Hoin. Son of Doi Shinshun. Born in Miyabe, Azai County, Omi Province (Higashi Azai County, Shiga Prefecture). Initially a priest at Yutsugi Shrine, he later served Azai Nagamasa. In October 1571, at the invitation of Hashiba (Toyotomi) Hideyoshi, he joined Oda Nobunaga and fought against the Azai clan. He then participated in Hideyoshi's conquest of the Chugoku region. In October 1581, he became the lord of Inaba Tottori Castle. After Nobunaga's death, he served Hideyoshi, and in 1582, he participated in the conquest of Kyushu, and in April, he defeated Shimazu Iehisa's army at Hyuga Taka Castle. In December 1583, he was given 50,000 koku in Inaba and Tajima. In 1584, he participated in the siege of Odawara. In November of the same year, he handed over the family headship to his son Nagahiro. In 1592, during the Korean expedition, he took part in the campaign at Nagoya in Hizen. Nagahiro crossed the sea in his place. In December 1596, he handed over Tottori Castle to Nagahiro, but continued to play an active role as one of Hideyoshi's magistrates. In his later years, he became one of Hideyoshi's Otogishu. He also participated in government affairs together with the Five Elders. 安土桃山時代の武将。善祥坊,中務卿法印。土肥真舜の子。近江国浅井郡宮部(滋賀県東浅井郡)に生まれる。はじめ湯次神社の社僧であったが,のち浅井長政に仕える。元亀2(1571)年10月に,羽柴(豊臣)秀吉の誘いに応じて織田信長に下り,浅井氏と戦う。その後,秀吉の中国征討に参加。天正9(1581)年10月因幡鳥取城代となる。信長の死後は秀吉に仕え,同15年九州征討に参加,4月日向高城に島津家久の軍を撃退。同17年12月には因幡・但馬に5万石を与えられている。同18年,小田原攻めに参加。同年11月,家督を子長煕に譲る。文禄1(1592)年の朝鮮出兵に際しては肥前名護屋に参陣。長煕がこれに代わり渡海した。慶長1(1596)年12月,鳥取城を長煕に譲るが,その後も秀吉の奉行衆として活躍。晩年は秀吉の御伽衆となる。また五大老と共に政務にも参与した。同3年秀吉の遺物金30枚を受領。<参考文献>日置粂左ヱ門「豊臣政権と鳥取城主宮部継潤」(『鳥取市史研究』6号)
