Ibn Khaldūn

Japanese: イブン・ハルドゥーン(英語表記)Ibn Khaldūn
Ibn Khaldūn
1332‐1406
A representative Arab historian of the Islamic world. Born in Tunis. His ancestors were of South Arab descent and were ruling nobles of Seville, but fled to Tunis in the mid-13th century. After studying various subjects at a young age, he served the sultans of North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula, leading a turbulent political life, but he retired from the world due to his sadness and wrote the extensive "Al-Muqaddima" and "Kitāb al-'ibar", which is equivalent to world history. In 1382, he moved to Cairo under the Mamluk dynasty, where he became a professor at the academy and served in the administration of justice as the great qadi of the Maliki faction. During that time, he joined the defense forces against Timur's invasion of Western Asia, and met Timur on the outskirts of Damascus.
