Arab biographer. Born in Irbil in the Jazira region to a madrasa (school) professor as his father. He was also a famous Shafi'i jurist who served as a qadi (judge) and madrasa professor. The biographical encyclopedia he compiled, "Records of the Obituaries of Notables," lists over 700 notable people in Islamic history (excluding Muhammad's companions) whose death years are known, in alphabetical order by name (Islam). It is particularly rich in valuable information about his books and contemporaries.

アラブの伝記事典作者。マドラサ(学院)教授を父としてジャジーラ地方のイルビルに生まれる。カーディー(裁判官)，マドラサ教授などを務めた著名なシャーフィイー派法学者でもあった。彼の編纂した伝記事典《名士死亡録》は，イスラム史上の名士のうち(ムハンマドの教友などは除かれている)，没年のわかっている者だけ700余名を名前(イスム)のアルファベット順に並べたものである。特に著書と同時代の人々について貴重な情報が豊富。
