Branislav Nusić

Japanese: ヌシッチ - ぬしっち(英語表記)Branislav Nusić
Branislav Nusić

A playwright and novelist from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and Serbia. He studied law at the University of Belgrade and became a diplomat and administrator. He later switched to journalism and served as director of the national theater in Belgrade and other cities. At the age of 23, he wrote a satirical poem called "Two Slaves," which caused a literary scandal and led to his imprisonment. Influenced by Gogol, he excelled in satirical comedies. His major comedies include "A Doubting Character" (1887), "The World" (1906), "The Minister's Wife" (1929), "Mr. Dollar" (1932), "The Mourning Family" (1935), and "The Deceased" (1937), which sharply criticized the political and moral corruption of the society of his time. His humorous novel "Autobiography" (1924) is also a masterpiece.
