A Chinese physician during the late Jin Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, he was one of the four great physicians. His pen names were Shou-zhen and He-jian. He believed that fire and heat were the main causes of illness, and preferred to treat illness by draining fire. He used a lot of cold and cool medicines, so he was called the Cold and Cool School. 中国の金末大定頃の医師で,金元四大家の一人。字は守真,河間と号した。火と熱が疾病の主因であるとみて瀉火による治療を好んで行い,寒涼の薬剤を多用したので,寒涼派と呼ばれた。『宣命論』ほか多くの著書がある。
