Ibn al-Tiqṭaqā

A 14th-century Iraqi historian. Dates of birth and death unknown. Born into a family descended from the fourth orthodox caliph, Ali. Author of "Fahri", dedicated to Fakhr al-Din, ruler of Mosul. This is a history of the caliphs, but also falls into the so-called "mirror of the monarchs" genre, and is a biographical account of successive caliphs and their viziers (victims) interspersed with various anecdotes. Filled with urbane literary tastes, it attracted many readers as a work of art, unlike the fact-listing history books of the time.

14世紀のイラクの歴史家。生没年不詳。第4代正統カリフ，アリーの系統を引く家系に生まれた。モースルの支配者ファフル･アッディーンに献じた《ファフリー》の著者である。これはカリフの歴史であると同時にいわゆる〈君主の鏡〉のジャンルにも入るもので，歴代のカリフとそのワジール(宰相)の伝記をさまざまな逸話を交えながら書いている。都会的な文人趣味があふれており，同時代の事実羅列主義の歴史書とは違って，読物として多くの読者を引きつけた。
