Yi-fu-jiu (English spelling)

Japanese: 伊孚九 - いふきゅう（英語表記）Yi-fu-jiu

A Chinese Qing Dynasty trader and painter. Born in Wuxing, Zhejiang Province. His given name was Kai and his literary name was Fujiu. His pen names were Shinno Koufu, Huisen, and Yatō. He first arrived in Nagasaki in 1720, and visited Japan many times after that. His landscape paintings, which he painted as a hobby, attracted the attention of other painters of the time, and had a major influence on the development of Nanga painting in the Edo period. He was not recognized as a painter in China, and few of his works remain. His major works include "Lihe Sansui-zu" and "Suigyou Tsuri-boat."

中国，清の貿易商，画家。浙江省呉興の人。名は海，字は孚久。号はしん野耕夫 (しんやこうふ) ，匯川 (わいせん) ，也堂。享保5 (1720) 年長崎への来航を最初とし，その後もしばしば来朝。余技として描いた山水画が当時の画家たちに注目され，江戸時代の南画の発達に大きな影響を及ぼした。中国では画家として認められず遺品も少い。主要作品『離合山水図』『水郷釣舟』。
