Material stimulus - bushitsu shigeki (English spelling)

Japanese: 物質刺激 - ぶっしつしげき（英語表記）wù zhì cì jī

In China, the method of encouraging workers to work by making concessions in distribution is called material stimulation. Its opposite is mental stimulation. In low-income China, in order to build the economy, high accumulation had to be achieved by appealing to patriotism and communist consciousness. The concrete difference between the two groups is that the material stimulation group advocates an increase in the proportion of piecework payment, while the mental stimulation group advocates a higher proportion of hourly wages and flat-rate supply systems. When the right wing holds real power, they tend to place more emphasis on material stimulation, while when the left wing holds power, they tend to emphasize mental stimulation.
