A small Japanese boat used around Tokyo Bay and Sagami Bay. Records indicate that it was smaller than the Godairyokusen, but larger than the Chiyokibune. In Tokyo Bay, it was also used for trawl fishing, but was primarily used as a cargo ship, and in the early Taisho period, the one that carried gravel from the Tama River in Kanagawa Prefecture was called the Kanagawa Niashi in Tokyo. It was narrow and relatively fast, and was also used as a courier ship. [Ishizuka Takatoshi] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
