Nagata Family - Osadake

…In 1731 (Kyoho 16), he was appointed as Dojima Rice Elder (later the Rice Bureau Chief), and thereafter, he always paid the highest amount when the shogunate imposed taxes on rice purchases and official taxes. The Nagata family was in Tamamizu-cho as a rice broker from the Kyoho era (1716-36), and later moved to Okawa-cho, where he expanded his business. In 1883 (Tenmei 3), he was appointed as a member of the public bank loan association, and in 1867 (Keio 3), he became the president of the Hyogo Trading Company when the port of Hyogo was opened, and in the later years, he always kept in step with the Konoike and Hirooka families. His branch families included the Sakugoro and Sakujiro families, who became one of the Ten Money Exchangers, but in 1873, they went bankrupt due to defaults on government funds. …

…1731年(享保16)堂島米年寄(のちの米方年行司)に任じられ，以後幕府の御買米，御用金などの課徴に際しては，つねに最高額を負担した。長田家は享保年中(1716‐36)から米仲買として玉水町にあり，のち大川町に移り経営を伸張させ，83年(天明3)公銀御貸付組合の一員に指名され，1867年(慶応3)兵庫開港に際し兵庫商社頭取に就任するなど，後期には鴻池，広岡家とつねに同一歩調をとった。分家に十人両替の一つとなった作五郎家，作次郎家を擁したが，73年官公金預りの焦げつきで倒産した。…
