The name of the saddle between Mt. Myoken and Mt. Nodake in the center of the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture. The altitude is 1,080 meters. The Nita Pass Circular Expressway connects Unzen Onsen, and there is a ropeway to Mt. Myoken in the north. From the pass, you can see the U-shaped valley created by the explosion of Akamatsu Valley to the east, the Ariake Sea in the distance, and even the smoke from Mt. Aso. To the west, you can see the Unzen golf course and hot springs, and in the distance Tachibana Bay and the Nagasaki Peninsula. The surrounding area is filled with azaleas in the spring, cool air in the summer, maples in the fall, and frost in the winter, making it a mecca for Unzen tourism.
