Kögl and his colleagues then isolated a fourth auxin from human urine, but this was indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), which had already been isolated from fermentation liquid. Auxins a, b, and auxin a lactone could not be isolated again in subsequent studies, and a reexamination of Kögl's samples led to the conclusion that these auxins did not actually exist. …
