Muybridge, who lined up 24 cameras in a row to take continuous pictures of a single movement (such as a running horse), to French physiologist E. Murray, who invented the "photo gun" that could take 12 frames on one dry plate. In 1889, British photographer W. Friese-Greene invented the first movie camera (kinematography), which he named the biphantascope (a biographical film about him, "The Magic Box," was made in 1952, starring Robert Donat). In addition, the French chemist and physicist L. Le Prince invented a projection device that used perforated film and a sprocket to feed the film, along with a cross wheel, which was later perfected by the German O. Moester.
