Ibigawa [town] - Ibigawa
A town in Ibi District, southwest of Gifu Prefecture. The central Ibi area is a settlement at the mouth of the Ibi River, which developed as a castle town and is the terminus of the Yoro Railway from Ogaki. The town produces high-quality Ibi rice, shiitake mushrooms, and strawberries, and the sweetfish from the Ibi River are a local specialty. Tokuyama Dam, which has the largest water storage capacity in Japan, is located in the north. In January 2005, the town incorporated the villages of Tanigumi, Kasuga, Kuze, Fujihashi, and Sakanai from Ibi District. Area: 803.44 km2 . Population: 23,784 (2010).
