Japanese: 西目屋[村] - にしめや

A village in Nakatsugaru district, southwest of Aomori prefecture. It is located at the southern foot of Mt. Iwaki, and occupies the headwaters of the Iwaki River. To the south is the Shirakami Mountains, which form the border with Akita prefecture. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries, but since the Shirakami Mountains were designated a World Heritage Site in 1993, the number of visitors has increased as the gateway to the area, and tourism is expected to grow. Meya Dam and Lake Miyama in the center were completed in 1960, and the large Tsugaru Dam is currently under construction just downstream. Aqua Green Village ANMON in the west is a comprehensive base facility that serves as the core of walking trails that take in Anmon Falls, which is located in the buffer zone of the World Heritage Site, and the giant beech tree "Mother Tree" near Tsugaru Pass. 246.02 ^km2 . 1,594 people (2010).

青森県南西部，中津軽郡の村。岩木山の南麓にあたり，岩木川の源流域を占め，南には白神山地があり秋田県との境をなす。農林業が主産業であるが，1993年に白神山地が世界自然遺産に指定されたのを機に，その玄関口として訪問客が増加しており，観光業の伸びも期待されている。中央部の目屋ダム・美山湖は1960年に完成，現在はそのすぐ下流により大規模な津軽ダムを整備中。西部にある〈アクアグリーンビレッジＡＮＭＯＮ〉は，世界自然遺産の緩衝地域に位置する暗門の滝や，津軽峠近くのブナ巨木〈マザーツリー〉などをめぐる散策路の核となる総合拠点施設。246.02km²。1594人（2010）。
