Shigenaga Nishimura

Shigenaga Nishimura
Year of death: 6th June 27th, 1756 (7th July 23rd, 1756)
Year of birth: Unknown. A mid-Edo period ukiyo-e artist, he is one of the most representative artists of the Beni-e to Benizuri-e periods. Born in Edo. He was active in a wide range of fields, focusing on woodblock prints and illustrations for kusazoshi. Although he created some ukiyo-e based on Western perspective techniques, his most prominent works were beautiful genre paintings with a deep, familiar feel.
