Tsushima Current - Tsushima Current (English name)

Tsushima Current - Tsushima Current (English name)
A branch of the Kuroshio Current that flows into the Sea of Japan through the Tsushima Strait. The current that passes through the eastern channel of the Tsushima Strait flows north along the coast of Japan, while the current that passes through the western channel flows north along the east coast of Korea as the East China Current, then turns east and flows along the polar front of the Sea of Japan, joining the former near the coast of Noto. Most of the Tsushima Current flows out into the Pacific Ocean through the Tsugaru Strait, but some also flows north along the west coast of Hokkaido, and most of it flows out into the Sea of Okhotsk through the Soya Strait. The Tsushima Current is approximately 200m thick, flows at 0.5 to 1 knot, and is characterized by a significant meandering. It also mixes with coastal waters from the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea, and is colder, less saline, and less transparent than the main Kuroshio Current.
