Royal Shakespeare Company

British theatre company. In 1960, they were directors of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford, England. PRF Hall A permanent company was formed under the plan of Hall, and the following year it began operations under the name Royal Shakespeare Company. It was based at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, which was renamed the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and at the newly acquired Aldwych Theatre in London. In 1968 Trevor Nunn replaced Hall as artistic director, and in 1978 Terry Hands joined as co-director.

イギリスの劇団。1960年，シェークスピアの生地ストラトフォードのシェークスピア記念劇場の責任者であったP.R.F.ホールの計画によって恒久的劇団が結成され，翌年ローヤル･シェークスピア劇団の名で活動を開始。ローヤル･シェークスピア劇場と改称された同劇場と，ロンドンに新たに獲得したオールドウィッチ劇場を本拠とする。68年，ホールに代わってナンTrevor Nunnが芸術監督となり，78年ハンズTerry Handsが共同責任者として加わった。
