Nishizawa Valley

Japanese: 西沢渓谷 - にしざわけいこく

A valley in the upper reaches of the Fuefuki River in the Mitomi district of Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The river originates at Mount Kokushigatake and Mount Okusenjo in the Chichibu Mountains. It flows down a granite region and is known for its beautiful valley with waterfalls and pools, as well as its rhododendrons and autumn leaves. While Higashizawa on the north side is still the domain of mountaineers, the approximately 5 km stretch from Nishizawa Deai to the remains of Fudo hut has been developed as a hiking trail and is popular with the general public. For those with good walking skills, there are also hiking trails leading to Mount Kurogane and Mount Kentoku. The valley is part of Chichibu Tama Kai National Park.

Nishizawa Valley

山梨県山梨市三富(みとみ)地区にある笛吹川(ふえふきがわ)上流の渓谷。秩父(ちちぶ)山地の国師ヶ岳(こくしがたけ)や奥千丈(おくせんじょう)岳に源流をもつ。花崗(かこう)岩地帯を流下し、滝、淵(ふち)などの渓谷美、シャクナゲと紅葉で知られる。北側の東沢がいまなお登山家の領域であるのに対し、西沢出合(であい)から不動小屋跡の約5キロメートルはハイキングコースとして整備され、一般に親しまれている。なお健脚向きには、黒金(くろがね)山・乾徳(けんとく)山方面への登山路も開かれている。秩父多摩甲斐(ちちぶたまかい)国立公園に属する。
