Nishishiga shell mound

Japanese: 西志賀貝塚 - にししがかいづか

Located in Kaida-cho, Nishi-ku, Nagoya, this is a representative site in the Chubu region from the early Yayoi period. It consists of a shell layer that has produced pottery from the late early period, such as a jar-shaped pottery with several rows of carved bands on the upper half of the body, and an inclusion layer that spans the middle to late period. In addition to a large amount of pottery, bone and horn tools have also been discovered.

名古屋市西区貝田町にある弥生時代前期の中部地方の代表的遺跡。胴上半に数段の刻目突帯をもつ壺形土器など，前期後半の土器を出す貝層と，中～後期にわたる包含層から成る。多量の土器のほか，骨角器が発見されている。
