A town in Minamitsuru County in central-eastern Yamanashi Prefecture. The Fujikyuko Line runs through the town. It occupies the upper reaches of the Katsura River and is mostly mountainous. It has long been a producer of Kai silk, and today it produces rayon and synthetic textiles, as well as factories that make automobile parts. It is the trailhead for Mt.
