Mr. Nishio

Mr. Nishio
A feudal lord of the early modern period. Born in Mikawa Province. Yoshitsugu served Oda Nobunaga, and later joined Tokugawa Ieyasu, receiving a fief of 5,000 koku. In 1602 (Keicho 7), his fief was increased to 12,000 koku in Haraichi, Bushu. He then lived in Shirai, Kozuke, Tsuchiura, Hitachi, Tanaka, Suruga (25,000 koku), and Komoro, Shinshu, before moving to Yokosuka, Totomi Province in 1682 (Tenwa 2) during the reign of Tadanari. His son Tadanao held important positions such as young councilor and senior councilor, and was twice given an additional fief of 35,000 koku. In the Meiji period, he was transferred to Hanabusa, Awa Province. The head of the family generally called himself Oki no Kami.

近世大名。三河国の出身。吉次は織田信長に仕え,のち徳川家康に属して5000石を知行。1602年(慶長7)加増されて武州原市1万2000石となる。その後,上野白井,常陸土浦,駿河田中(2万5000石),信州小諸を経て,82年(天和2)忠成のとき遠州横須賀に移る。その子忠尚は若年寄,老中などの要職を歴任する一方,2度の加増により3万5000石。明治に至り安房花房へ転封される。当主はおおむね隠岐守を称する。
