This is a clinic and school that Siebold established near Nagasaki. Siebold came to Japan in 1823 (Bunsei 6) as a doctor at the Dutch Hospital in Dejima, Nagasaki. He initially practiced medicine on Dejima, but his reputation as a great doctor grew, and thanks to the efforts of interpreters Yoshio Kosai and Narabayashi Souken, he began to travel from Dejima to the Narabayashi residence once every five days to give medical treatment and clinical lectures. The following year, under the name of a Japanese interpreter, he purchased a plot of land of just over two chobu in Narutaki, on the outskirts of Nagasaki, and built a clinic and school with two main buildings and two separate buildings. He commuted from Dejima to treat Japanese patients and teach medicine and natural sciences. His students included over 50 people, including Keisaku Ninomiya, Junzo Mima, Kensuke Oka, Koryosai, and Choei Takano, and they had a great influence on Dutch studies at the time. The remains of his school are preserved as a national historic site in Narutaki-cho, Nagasaki City.
