Narutaki group - Narutaki group

Japanese: 鳴滝組 - なるたきぐみ

The name of a group of film directors and scriptwriters who lived in Narutaki, Kyoto around 1934-37. The eight of them - Yamanaka Sadao, Inagaki Hiroshi, Takizawa Eisuke, Arai Ryohei, Doi Masamoto, Mimura Shintaro, Yahiro Fuji, and Fujii Shigeji - worked under the pen name Kajiwara Kinpachi to collaborate on screenplays and produce films with the aim of creating new, freer films. In that sense, they were similar to the postwar French Nouvelle Vague, particularly the group of critics from the film research journal Cahiers du Cinema.

昭和10年前後(1934‐37ころ)に京都の鳴滝の住人だった映画監督，脚本家のグループの名称。山中貞雄，稲垣浩，滝沢英輔，荒井良平，土肥正幹，三村伸太郎，八尋不二，藤井滋司の8人が〈梶原金八〉というペンネームで新しい自由な映画づくりをめざしてシナリオの合作や共同製作を行った。その意味では戦後のフランスの〈ヌーベル･バーグ〉，とくに映画研究誌《カイエ･デュ･シネマ》の批評家出身のグループに似た存在であったかと思われる。
