Nayoro

The word nayoroshi means a list of names, and is generally used as meisho nayoroshi or bijin nayoroshi, but in Nohgaku terminology it refers to a list of plays in Noh and Kyogen. There are noh nayoroshi, utai nayoroshi, and kyogen nayoroshi, and they are usually classified in various ways, such as by the order of the play pattern, alphabetical order, by the training stage such as beginner's, o-narai, and ichiko soden, by combination of utai books, or by author. In the Edo period, it was a declaration of the repertoire of each school to the shogunate or feudal lords. Since the playlists for modern performances are submitted to the tax office due to admission taxes, playlists that are not declared, such as restorations of old plays from Zeami's time or new Noh performances, are no longer eligible for tax exemptions if they include performers designated as Important Intangible Cultural Properties, and are therefore treated more harshly than other classical performing arts.

名寄ということばは名称の羅列という意味で、一般的に名所名寄、美人名寄などと使うが、能楽用語では、能および狂言における曲目一覧表をいう。能名寄、謡名寄、狂言名寄などがあり、曲柄順、五十音順、入門・大習(おおならい)・一子相伝といった稽古(けいこ)の段階順、謡本の組合せ別、作者別など、各種分類されているのが普通である。江戸時代には、幕府あるいは藩主に対する各流のレパートリーの申告書であった。現代の上演曲目は入場税の関係で税務署に届けられるために、申告以外の曲目、たとえば世阿弥(ぜあみ)時代の古い曲の復元や新作能の上演には、重要無形文化財指定の出演者を網羅した場合の免税特典もなくなり、他の古典芸能より厳しい扱いを受けている。
