Inubosaki - Inubosaki

Japanese:
Inubosaki - Inubosaki

A cape facing the Pacific Ocean on the Choshi Peninsula at the northeastern tip of Chiba Prefecture. Formerly written as Inubosaki, it was also written as Inubosaki. It is a cape that juts out from the southern end of the long sandy beach of Kimigahama, and is made of Cretaceous sandstone and shale, topped by the Narita Formation and Kanto Loam Formation, with an elevation of about 25 meters. Inubosaki Lighthouse, erected in 1874 (Meiji 7), is located here, and the view from the tower is magnificent and has become a tourist attraction. Most of the Choshi Peninsula is a plateau at an elevation of 20 to 30 meters, and except for the pine forests around the cape and Kimigahama, the area is covered with cabbage fields. The coast is designated as Suigo Tsukuba Quasi-National Park, and leisure facilities such as Inubosaki Marine Park, as well as hotels, inns, and other large and small accommodation facilities are concentrated there. In addition, at the top of the 74-meter Atagoyama, there is Fureai Hiroba, a hill where the earth can be seen as round. In the rocky area below the lighthouse, there is a sea cave called Tainai-kuguri (no entry allowed). Nearby, there are stone monuments bearing poems by Takahama Kyoshi and Kunikida Doppo, making it a good place for a literary walk. It is a 20-minute bus ride or a 20-minute ride on the Choshi Electric Railway from Choshi Station on the Sobu Main Line.
