…Uruguayan urban guerrilla organization. Founded around 1963 by Socialist Raúl Sendic (1925-72), the guerrilla group initially focused on rural areas. It gradually shifted its focus to urban guerrilla activities, and from the late 1960s to the early 1970s it frequently kidnapped government officials, diplomats, and businessmen.
