[Born] 1445./1450. Cortona
[Died] October 16, 1523. Italian painter from Cortona. Full name Luca d'Egidio di Ventura de' Signorelli. A pupil of Piero della Francesca, he was also said to have been influenced by the Pollaiuolo brothers. Known for his nude figures and dramatic poses, his boldly fleshed figures express the movement of the human body and the emotions of the characters. His representative works, the frescoes "The End of the World" and "The Last Judgment" in the Chapel of San Brizio in the Cathedral of Orvieto, are said to have had a great influence on Michelangelo.

イタリアの画家。フルネーム Luca d'Egidio di Ventura de' Signorelli。ピエロ・デラ・フランチェスカの弟子で，ポライウオロ兄弟の影響も受けたといわれる。裸体人物と劇的姿勢で知られ，大胆に肉づけされた人物は，人体の運動や人物の感情をも表現している。代表作であるオルビエト大聖堂のサン・ブリツィオ礼拝堂のフレスコ画『世界の終末』と『最後の審判』は，ミケランジェロに大きな影響を与えたといわれる。
