Nāṣir Khusraw

Persian poet. Born in a region of Balkh, he became a financial official in Merv under the Seljuk Empire, but in 1045 he made a pilgrimage to Mecca and converted to Ismailism in Egypt. After returning from Balkh, he was persecuted and spent the rest of his life in seclusion in the mountains of Badakhshan. His travelogue Safar Nāma is a valuable historical source for learning about the situation in various places, including Egypt under the Fatimid dynasty, and his collection of poems Diwan is also important for the study of literary history and Ismailism.

ペルシアの詩人。バルフの一地方に生まれ，メルブでセルジューク朝の財務官僚となったが，1045年メッカへ巡礼し，次いでエジプトでイスマーイール派に改宗。バルフ帰還後は迫害され，バダフシャーンの山中に隠遁して一生を終えた。旅行記《サファル･ナーマSafar Nāma》は，ファーティマ朝下のエジプトなど各地の状況を知る貴重な史料であり，詩集《ディーワーン》も文学史，イスマーイール派研究のうえで重要である。
