…The state is divided into two parts by the coastal mountain range, which runs from southwest to northeast, the Atlantic coast and the Paraiba River basin. The Agulhas Negras mountain range (2,787 m) in the western Itatiaia mountain range is the highest point in the state. The coastline stretches for 705 km.
