Mount Nagi

Japanese: 那岐山 - なぎさん

A mountain on the border between Nagi Town, Katsuta County, Okayama Prefecture and Chizu Town, Yazu County, Tottori Prefecture. One of the main peaks of the Chugoku Mountains, it has an altitude of 1,240 meters and is made up of Palaeozoic strata, rhyolite, and andesite. It is located in the northern part of the Tsuyama Basin and is part of the Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park. On the middle slope, there are waterfalls such as Hebibuchinotaki and Takiyamanotaki, and in addition to rhododendron colonies, you can also see Asebi and Red Enkianthus. The hiking course takes you by bus from Tsuyama Station on the JR Tsuyama Line to Koen, and from there it is a journey of about three and a half hours.

岡山県勝田郡奈義(なぎ)町と鳥取県八頭(やず)郡智頭(ちず)町の境にある山。中国山地の主峰の一つで、標高1240メートル。古生層、流紋岩、安山岩からなる。津山盆地の北部にあり、氷ノ山後山(ひょうのせんうしろやま)那岐山国定公園の一部。中腹には蛇淵の滝、滝山の滝などがあり、シャクナゲの群落のほか、アセビ、ベニドウダンなどがみられる。登山コースはJR津山線津山駅から高円(こうえん)までバス、そこから約3時間30分の行程である。
