Songs to Remember Lost Children - Songs to Remember Lost Children
Mahler's song collection "Kindertotenlieder". Five pieces with orchestral accompaniment based on the collection of poems of the same name (1834) by the late German romantic poet F. Rückert (1788-1866). Composed between 1901 and 1904, this masterpiece sings in a simple style Rückert's poems about the feelings of losing two beloved children. Rückert's works have also been composed by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, and others.

マーラーの歌曲集。《Kindertotenlieder》。ドイツの後期ロマン派の詩人F.リュッケルト〔1788-1866〕の同名詩集(1834年)を用いた管弦楽伴奏による5曲。1901年−1904年の作曲で,2人の愛児を失った心境を歌ったリュッケルトの詩を簡潔な書法で歌い上げた名作。リュッケルトの作品は他にもシューベルト,シューマン,ブラームスなどによって作曲されている。
