Japanese: 中村時蔵 - なかむらときぞう

A Kabuki actor. The stage name was Harimaya for the first four generations, and Yorozuya for the fifth generation.

(1849-1919) The former name of Nakamura Karoku III, who was active from the Meiji period to the Taisho period.

II

(1876-1909) Adopted son of the 3rd Utaroku. A handsome male actor. In 1908 (Meiji 41), he took the stage name of the 2nd Utaroku from Nakamura Kasho, but died the following year.

III

(1895-1959) The second son of Utaroku III, and the younger brother of Nakamura Kichiemon I. Older brother of Nakamura Kanzaburo XVII. In 1916 (Taisho 5), he took the stage name Tokizo III from Nakamura Yonekichi. Although he was a female actor, he also played handsome leading roles and excelled in manners. He played an active role opposite Kichiemon I, and made a great contribution as a leading female actor in the Showa era. In 1958 (Showa 33), he became a member of the Japan Art Academy.

IV

(1927-62) The second son of the third. After serving as the second Nakamura Baishi and the sixth Nakamura Shibajaku, he took on the stage name of the fourth Nakamura Tokizo in 1960 (Showa 35). Born with natural beauty, he was popular for his outstanding acting talent and was expected to be the next generation of female actors, but he passed away suddenly before he could achieve his full potential.

5th

(1955-) The eldest son of the 4th generation. In June 1981 (Showa 56), he took the stage name of the 5th generation from the 3rd generation Umeeda. In 2008 (Heisei 20), he received the Japan Art Academy Award.

（1876―1909）3世歌六の養子。女方(おんながた)、二枚目。1908年（明治41）中村歌昇(かしょう)から2世を襲名したが、翌年没した。

（1895―1959）3世歌六の次男で、初世中村吉右衛門(きちえもん)の弟。17世中村勘三郎の兄。1916年（大正5）中村米吉(よねきち)から3世時蔵を襲名。女方ながら二枚目の立役(たちやく)も勤め、所作事(しょさごと)にも優れていた。初世吉右衛門の相手役として活躍、昭和の立女方(たておやま)として功績があった。1958年（昭和33）日本芸術院会員。
