Japanese: 長門[市] - ながと

A city in western Yamaguchi prefecture facing the Sea of Japan. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The central city is the market town of Shomyoichi, located at the intersection of the San'in Main Line and the Mine Line, and the port town of Senzaki. Senzaki is a fishing port and tourist base for Oumi Island, the center of Kita-Nagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park, and is famous for its kamaboko (fish cake). The Senzaki Fireworks Festival, held every July, is famous. Nagato Yumoto Onsen, Tawarayama Onsen, and the Hagi ware Fukagawa Kiln are all located here. In March 2005, the towns of Misumi, Hioki, and Yuya in Otsu County were incorporated into the city. Area: 357.29 ^km2 . Population: 38,349 (2010).

山口県西部，日本海に面する市。1954年市制。中心市街は山陰本線と美祢(みね)線の交点にある市場町の正明市(しょうみょういち)と，港町の仙崎(せんざき)。仙崎は北長門海岸国定公園の中心青海(おうみ)島の観光基地，漁港で，かまぼこは名産。毎年７月に開かれる仙崎花火大会は有名。長門湯本温泉，俵山温泉，萩焼の深川(ふかわ)窯がある。2005年３月大津郡三隅町，日置町，油谷町を編入。357.29km²。３万8349人（2010）。
