...This can be seen in the success of the comic trio (Gaultier-Garguille (1572?-1633), Gros-Guillaume (?-1634), and Turlupin (1587?-1637)) at the Théâtre de Bourgogne (the Théâtre de Bourgogne), which was the only permanent theater in Paris at the time and owned by the Guild of Passion Plays, and in the street performances represented by the comic skits of the Tabarin brothers at the Pont Neuf.

However, the success of Alexandre Hardy (c. 1570-c. 1632) as a playwright at the Théâtre de Bourgogne in the early 17th century indicates that the new style of drama, such as tragicomedy and pastoral plays, with rich plot development and dramatic conflicts, was becoming popular at the time. In 1634, another theater, a renovated Jeu de Paume in the Marais district, became a permanent venue called the Théâtre de la Malay.
