A former town in Senboku District, central Akita Prefecture. It occupies the northern part of the Yokote Basin and produces rice and vegetables. The sake and lumber industries are thriving in the central Nagano area, and the Akita Shinkansen (Tazawako Line) runs through it. In March 2005, it merged with Omagari City, Senboku District's Kamioka Town, Nishisenboku Town, Kyowa Town, Senboku Town, Ota Town, and Minamisoto Village to become a city, Daisen City. 78.92 km2 . 秋田県中部，仙北郡の旧町。横手盆地北部を占め，米，野菜を産する。中心の長野は清酒・製材業が盛んで，秋田新幹線（田沢湖線）が通じる。2005年３月大曲市，仙北郡神岡町，西仙北町，協和町，仙北町，太田町，南外村と合併し市制，大仙市となる。78.92km2。１万1875人（2003）。
