A former town in Senboku District, central Akita Prefecture. It occupies the northern part of the Yokote Basin and produces rice and vegetables. The sake and lumber industries are thriving in the central Nagano area, and the Akita Shinkansen (Tazawako Line) runs through it. In March 2005, it merged with Omagari City, Senboku District's Kamioka Town, Nishisenboku Town, Kyowa Town, Senboku Town, Ota Town, and Minamisoto Village to become a city, Daisen City. 78.92 km2 .
