Piety - Fú Qián

Japanese: 服虔 - ふくけん（英語表記）Fú Qián

A scholar of the Eastern Han Dynasty in China. Dates of birth and death unknown. His pen name was Zishen. He was from Henan. Despite living in poverty, he set his sights on studying at a university, and was praised for his outstanding argumentative writings. He was considered a filial and honest man, and rose through the ranks to become the prefect of Jiujiang in the final years of the Zhongping era (184-189) under Emperor Ling. He was known as a scholar of ancient literature, and wrote the Spring and Autumn Annals of Han Dispute in refutation of the modern scholar He Xiu in his Zuo Zhuan. He also left behind many works, including the Spring and Autumn Annals of Zuo Zhuan, in which he was given a draft he had not finished by chance when he met Zheng Xuan at a lodging house.

中国，後漢の学者。生没年不詳。字は子慎。河南の出身。清貧のなかで志を立てて大学に学び，論説の卓抜さを称された。孝廉に挙げられ，累遷して霊帝の中平(184‐189)末年に，官は九江太守に至った。古文学者として知られ，《左伝》によって，今文学者の何休（かきゆう）に反論して《春秋漢議駁》を著した。また旅宿で偶然知り合った鄭玄（じようげん）から，書きかけの草稿を与えられたというエピソードのある《春秋左氏伝解誼》など，多くの著述を残した。
