The diurnal motion of the celestial sphere causes a celestial body or its center to pass through the meridian. A normal rising and setting star is observed once a day, when the celestial body is due south (or due north) and its altitude is at its maximum. A circumpolar star occurs twice in total, once above and once below the north (south) celestial pole, and is distinguished as an upper meridian passage and a lower meridian passage. → Noon → Related topic Local time Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
