A town in Kako District, southern Hyogo Prefecture. Located in the eastern Harima Plain, it has extensive rice paddies irrigated by reservoirs, produces vegetables and flowers, and is also a popular greenhouse grower and poultry farmer. Its specialty is watermelon. Located close to the Harima coastal industrial zone, the town is seeing a rapid expansion of factories. Area: 34.92 km2 . Population: 31,026 (2010).
