The Ministry of the Interior - Nei-wu-fu (English spelling)

An office in charge of imperial affairs in the Qing dynasty of China. When the Qing dynasty established its capital in Beijing in 1644, it established the Ministry of the Interior to avoid the problems caused by the eunuchs. However, following the advice of Wu Liangfu, the Ministry of the Interior was abolished in 1644 and the "Thirteen Yamen" were established to appoint eunuchs. When Emperor Kangxi ascended to the throne, the Ministry of the Interior was reinstated and the eunuchs were removed. Thereafter, along with the Zongren Office, it became the central institution for handling imperial affairs. There were seven offices under the Guangchusi, three offices under the Shangxiyuan, Yuanmingyuan and Wenyuange, and many military offices directly under the control of the Three Banners, Robes, and Cavalry Camps and the Protective Army Camp, and the Ministry of the Interior was responsible for managing imperial property, accounting, repairing palace buildings, selecting eunuchs and palace ladies, animal husbandry, and managing the books of the Interior Office.

中国，清朝で皇室事務を行う役所。清朝は順治1 (1644) 年に北京に都を定めると，内務府を設立して宦官の弊害を避けようとした。しかし呉良輔の進言により同 11年に内務府を廃して「十三衙門」を設立し宦官を任用した。次いで康煕帝が即位すると再び内務府を復活して宦官を退け，以後，宗人府とともに皇室事務を取扱う中枢機関となった。広儲司以下の7司，上駟院以下の3院，円明園，文淵閣などの多くの役所，三旗包衣驍騎営，護軍営などの直属軍隊があり，皇室財産の管理，会計，宮中の建築の修繕，宦官や宮女の選択，牧畜事務，内府の書籍の管理などにあたった。
