Dragonfly beads (Tonbodama) - Tonbodama (English spelling) eye beads

Dragonfly beads (Tonbodama) - Tonbodama (English spelling) eye beads
A type of round bead with a decorative pattern created by inlaying or pasting glass of a different color onto the surface of opaque colored glass. The overwhelming majority of the patterns are concentric circles or circles, and are so named because they resemble the eyes of a dragonfly, but patterns also include linear patterns. Inlay techniques are quite advanced and first appeared in Egypt (18th Dynasty) and Mesopotamia around 1500 BCE. After that, they spread to both the East and the West as beads for necklaces, and were produced in various places.
