〘Noun〙 A Buddhist term. To reach ultimate enlightenment in one leap, without undergoing long and rigorous training. To come into contact with the truth of the Buddha and attain enlightenment immediately. ※Hokke Shuku (821) Upper end: "There are some who attain enlightenment suddenly , and there are some who attain it provisionally. There are some who attain enlightenment suddenly, after a long time."
