Uruguayan painter. Born in Montevideo to a Catalan father, he was educated in Barcelona, ​​where he opened a studio. By the age of 40, he was a central figure in Barcelona's cultural scene, working on book illustrations, decorating churches, collaborating with Gaudi on his work, and running an experimental art school for children. He lived in Paris from 1910 to 1932. Inspired by his interactions with Mondrian and other avant-garde painters of the time, he studied various painting styles, and produced over 1,500 works during this period. He returned to Uruguay in 1932 and established the Constructivist Art Association and a studio, held numerous lectures and solo exhibitions, and left behind five books and numerous murals, working hard to enlighten the La Plata region, which was a backward area for art.

ウルグアイの画家。カタルニャ人を父にモンテビデオで生まれ,バルセロナで教育を受け,同地で工房を開く。本のイラスト,教会装飾,ガウディの作品への協力,子どものための絵画教育実験学校を主催するなど,40歳ころにはバルセロナ文化人の中心として活躍。1910年から32年までパリ在住。モンドリアンら当時の前衛画家たちとの交流に刺激され,さまざまな絵画様式を研究,この時期に1500点以上の作品を残す。32年にウルグアイへ帰り,構成主義美術協会や工房を設立し,数多くの講演会や個展を催し,5冊の著作と壁画作品多数を残すなど,芸術の後進地帯だったラ・プラタ地域の啓蒙に尽力した。
