A treatise on haiku by Ichichu. Published in 1675 (Enpo 3). Two volumes. Borrowing the name of "Mongyu," a textbook for children written by Li Li of the Tang dynasty, this book aims to open the eyes of haiku poets around the world by providing logical support through the theory of allegory to the free and innocent Danrin haiku of the Soin school, which inherited the Moritake school (the style of Moritake's Thousand Verses) in contrast to the conservative Teimon haiku. The first volume contains a definition of haiku, a view of Shikimoku, and a criticism of Teitoku's "Shinzo Inu Tsukuba Shu," and the second volume shows examples based on these findings by presenting excellent works from the Danrin school and one hundred verses by Sointen himself.
