A common name for star-like X-ray sources in the Milky Way. Some emit X-rays with more than 1,000 times the energy emitted by the Sun, and many of these are thought to be close binary systems consisting of a star and an ultra-dense star such as a neutron star or black hole. Plasma emanating from the star and matter (gas) overflowing from the star form a disk (accretion disk) that revolves around the dense star, and gradually falls onto the dense star from the inside. The gravitational energy released at this time raises the temperature of the plasma that makes up the disk to tens to hundreds of millions of degrees, and X-rays are emitted as thermal radiation. One of the stars in Cygnus XI, a typical X-ray star, is believed to be a black hole. →X-ray burster→Related topics X-rays | Neutron stars | Radio stars Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
